Today is September 22nd, which means I have been living in Italy for a little over 2 weeks now. The adjustment has not been easy, but each day gets better and better. Some tips I have for people is that it takes time. You are going to feel a million emotions within five minutes but you have to be able to feel them. Give yourself credit you are moving across the world, it is going to take some time to adjust. Another tip is do not compare yourself to others. If you are a female who is in their twenties it feels like all you do is compare yourself to others, but really try not to. Everyone is coping with this transition in their own way, and while it looks like everyone is having the time of their life, they aren’t, trust me. Another tip is to stay busy. Go outside, listen to music and walk around. While it seems like a lot to leave the comfort zone of your room it will feel better I promise. One moment you are sitting in your new apartment and the next moment you are two weeks in, feeling like you can conquer the world. The bad days will happen, but so will the good. I wish I could take credit for all of this advice, but I have some pretty amazing people in my life who have gifted me these tips.
Florence is full of walking, to get anywhere you walk because a lot of the time it would take longer to drive than it would to walk. With that it is really important to bring good walking shoes. I plan on making a blog post about what are the best things to wear abroad, so don’t worry those tips are coming!
While it has been a crazy two weeks there is so much more to look forward to and many more trips!! I hope you follow along with me and my online journal through my journey.
